bovis wins £38m hull millennium project

Bovis has been confirmed as the winner for the £38 million construction management contract to build the Deep Millennium Project in Hull. The joint venture between Hull University and Hull City Council, supported by Yorkshire Forward, will incorporate a visitor attraction, based around the world's oceans with major aquarium exhibits. Other elements include a research facility, learning centre and business centre.

Alstom uk awarded railtrack deal

Alstom UK has been awarded a £35 million contract by Railtrack for the design element in the development of the signalling system for Stage Two of the modernisation of the West Coast Main Line. Phase One, which will allow trains to travel at 125mph in 2002 is already underway. Phase Two will increase train speeds to 140mph, as well as providing extra capacity on the line.

Kier teams up with james longley

Kier, in joint venture with James Longley, has signed six building contracts totalling £17.5 million with The Investors Group, a joint venture between Rotch Property and Schroders. The contract is a PFI scheme to design, build, finance and operate six mental health units in and around Chichester for the Sussex Weald and Downs NHS Trust. A further £30 million worth of health contracts are to be negotiated with the Longley Kier JV.

Campus gets NI's first pfi library contract

Campus Projects, part of Building Design Partnership, has signed a contract with Southern Education and Library Board for Northern Ireland's first PFI school. Work on the 500-pupil Drumglass High School in County Tyrone will begin immediately. The building contractor is H&J Martin.

Haden young secures £5m medical deal

Haden Young has secured a £5 million building services contract for the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham from main contractor, Clugston Construction. The contract covers mechanical, electrical and public health services on the PFI scheme.
