maintenance costs fall
Maintenance costs fell in the first quarter of 1999 for the second
successive quarter, but were still 4 per cent higher than a year
ago, according to the BMI All-in Maintenance Cost Index. It
attributed the fall in costs to material price fluctuations. The
BMI forecast is for maintenance costs to rise above the level of
inflation as a result of labour cost increases. The forecast is for
an increase of 4.5 per cent over the 12 months to the first quarter
of 2000.
