Tilbury wins £50m Rover job

Tilbury Douglas has scooped a £50 million partnering contract to provide management services for Rover/BMW's new 'Mini' building project. The work involves the construction of a car assembly building at Rover, Birmingham together with a new press shop at Solihull. The new Mini will be in production by 2001. The work will be undertaken by the Construction Services Division of Tilbury Douglas in partnership with Rover/BMW.

Bovis Lelliott scoops FT printworks job

Bovis Lelliott has won a £10.5 million management contract to convert the former Financial Times Printing Works in London's East India Docks into a new telecommunications centre for Echo Property Investment. The glass and steel building designed by Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners and built by Bovis in 1989, will provide 16,350m2 of telecom accommodation.

Norwest Holst wins Bardon chill store

Norwest Holst Construction has been awarded a £9 million contract to design and construct a chill store, warehouse and office development for ProLogis Kingspark Developments at Interlink Park in Bardon, Leicestershire. The scheme will provide 23,000m2 of warehousing with 1,840m2 of offices and the 6,440m2 chill store.

Boot to fitout Dome catering facilities

Henry Boot Management has been contracted by New Millennium Experience Company to construct refreshment and catering facilities for the Millennium Dome and its associated support buildings. The work involves fitting out the structure to incorporate catering facilities and a central storage area.

Ringway to maintain Kent roads

Ringway Highway Services has been awarded a term contract worth around £10 million by Kent County Council for highway maintenance. The contract runs for an initial period of five years with an option of extending it for a further two. The work includes winter maintenance and emergency call outs on the network, which consists of 8,000km and 4,700 structures.





Laing awarded Dubai port upgrade

John Laing International has won a £6.5 million contract to refurbish and expand the operations of Jebel Ali Port in Dubai. The contract includes expanding and upgrading an existing quay and building additional container handling and storage facilities at two other berths.







WS Atkins to manage Barclays property

WS Atkins has been awarded an initial two year contract to provide Barclays Bank Group Property Services with facilities management property services to its retail property portfolio. The portfolio includes over 3,000 Barclays' branches. Atkins will manage building maintenance, cleaning, data cabling, utilities and minor refurbishments.
