Kvaerner Construction has had a good week, picking up two contracts
totalling £127 million in London and Hong Kong.
The London contract, valued at £65 million, involves
constructing a new 28,000 m2 seven- storey reinforced concrete
framed office block for client British Land Company at Regents
Place. The work also includes the fit-out of the building with
carpeting, partitions, and IT facilities for the new headquarters
of Abbey National.
In addition, the deal involves refurbishment of two floors of the
adjacent Euston Tower. This will take the form of demolition,
structural alterations and recladding of the ground and first
floors of the tower. The ground floor alterations will include the
construction, to shell and core, of four retail units. The first
floor work will include full fit-out.
In Hong Kong, Kvaerner's associate company Gammon Construction has
a £62.5 million contract to build five 41-storey residential
towers providing 2,000 homes. The work also includes a
single-storey estates management office, a kindergarten building,
and associated works such as landscaping.
The project is the second phase of the redevelopment of Tsz Wan
Shan in Kowloon for client is the Hong Kong Housing Authority.
