Trevor Bond, a self-employed computer consultant, moved into his
house at the end of last year but, he says, has still not been able
to buy furniture eight months later because the work is continuing.
Bond already has experience of buying and living in a Charles
Church property having bought one five years ago.
He says: "There were a few minor problems with the first home as
one would expect. However, this time I wanted something bigger.
This development came up around the corner and I like living in
this area so I bought it."
But Bond says problems started as soon as he moved in on 11 January
this year. "All floors upstairs had to be pulled up, the
floorboards squeaked, all door frames upstairs have had to be
ripped out and put back in because they were too high.
"I lost my office for four weeks while they pulled up the floors.
There was no point drawing up a snagging list because there was so
much wrong."
Bond argues that if he is spending such a large sum of money on a
luxury home it should be one that can be lived in straight
away.
"I was really looking forward to this. It should be an enjoyable
experience but the magic of moving into this house has gone. It's
been aggravating and upsetting. I've got lots of stress in my life
already trying to run my own business and I can do without this.
You have to laugh at it really, if you take it too seriously you
will end up in a funny farm.
"The whole thing has been mind deadening, you feel like screaming,
it's frustration, it's aggravating. I realise that you can't buy a
perfect product but you still want the best quality you can."
