Laing Hyder wins £25m scheme
by Tim Wood
Laing Hyder has beaten off competition from two other consortia to
become preferred bidder for the £25 million scheme to develop
Newham General Hospital in East London.
Laing will concentrate on achieving financial close with Newham
Healthcare Trust as soon as possible. Contractor Laing Limited has
been chosen to redevelop Newham General Hospital to provide a
modern and centralised facility.
Laing Hyder, which has also secured a major PFI school in Enfield,
will be responsible for operational and support services at the
hospital and the initial concession period will be for 35 years.
The company, formed a year ago, will also work with ISS Mediclean
who will provide many of the facilities management services.
