£10 Irish pay claim

A claim for a £10/hour rate of pay has been tabled on behalf of building and civil engineering workers in Northern Ireland.

Ucatt general secretary George Brumwell is leading the talks for the union: "We are seeking a partnership approach with a strong commitment to the national agreement from the employers. I think we may get a better deal in Northern Ireland than in the rest of the UK. Irish contractors are committed to lifting the status of the building worker and raising the quality of recruitment," he said.
