Volvo launches new FL range
The new FL range comes in two-axle or three-axle models The new FL
range replaces the highly successful FL6 series first launched in
1985.
GVWs range from 7.5t to 18t on two axles and a three-axle model is
plated at 26t GVW. A two-axle 23t GTW "urban distribution" tractor
completes the line up.
The new Volvo D6B engine can be specified to meet Euro 3 emissions
which do not become mandatory until October 2001. Users may also
opt for a Continuously Regenerating Filter (CRT) which acts as a
catalytic converter. If they opt for a D6B Euro 2 engine they will
find an improved fuel consumption curve compared with the earlier
D6A unit.
ABS brakes are standard and the electronic system controls include
cruise control, PTO operation, engine cooling fan, idle speed,
starter key functions.
The new cab has improved ergonomics and more space than its
predecessor. It is offered in either day or sleeper configuration.
Air suspension is optional on 14-18t rigids though not on tractor
versions.
