A new top of the range, 300t capacity all-terrain crane has been
launched by Grove. It replaces the GMK6250 and has been designated
the GMK6300.
The five-section main boom extends from 15.5m to 60m and the height
can be increased with any of the wide range of jib extensions
available.
These range from an A-frame luffing jib system which extends from
21m to 61m, a hydraulic telescopic swingaway jib and fixed
off-settable jibs with lengths from 19m to 51m.
The new crane has the same Twin-Lock boom extension system as its
predecessor, but also features Grove's new MegaForm boom design.
Grove said that it is due to this that the new model has lift
figures in the mid-range which are at least 20% better than its
predecessor.
The U-shaped boom section is inherently stronger and this
eliminates the need for internal stiffeners, making the structure
lighter. It also allows for the introduction of a smoother,
self-aligning wear pad arrangement.
The GMK6300 can lift 29t at a maximum lift height of 59m and at
maximum radius of 56m capacity is 5t.
Engines are Mercedes, although Cummins units are fitted for the US
market where the crane also carries a different designation.
A 190kW unit powers the superstructure, and a 421kW engine driving
through a five-speed automatic Allison transmission powers the
six-axle carrrier.
The carrier features Grove's MegaTrak all-wheel independent
suspension system, plus all-wheel steer and this give it what is
claimed to be the best turning radius in its class at just 13m.
