Three in bid for barracks deal
Exclusive by Glenda Thisdell
Three teams are competing for a £49m public private
partnership programme to update facilities at Brompton Barracks in
Chatham, Kent. Work will include training facilities,
infrastructure and accommodation for the Royal School of Military
Engineering in Kent.
The three teams are a Carillion-led consortium named Flagship;
Defence Estates contractor Vosper Thornycroft in Southampton; and
the Hold Fast Integrated Training Service consortium led by defence
contractors Hunting Engineering in Hertfordshire.
The teams have been invited to negotiate in more detail in June
following which a single contractor will be chosen.
The contract is part of the Army's drive to provide better
accommodation and facilities in order to retain existing service
personnel and attract new recruits
