Ability to provide real-time information on transactions major
factor in deal A-Plant has been awarded a 40-month contract for the
exclusive supply of plant and related equipment to Birse
Group.
The contract was awarded after Birse Group had carried out
competitive evaluations with four suppliers. It used Key
Performance Indicators to search out criteria like deliveries,
service level agreements, reporting and administrative
systems.
"And A-Plant won," said A-Plant's Seamus Kelly. "We scored well in
every aspect, but the real clincher was our systems approach and
our ability to manage assets and deliver our promises.
"With the growth of Internet awareness and the emergence of
e-commerce in construction our customers are increasingly asking
for effective management information from key suppliers."
A-Plant uses specially-developed IT systems to provide consolidated
information for every transaction regardless of depot location or
type of kit.
The 270-plus branches in theA-Plant network are connected to the
system in real time so information is always up to date.
This was a crucial feature in the A-Plant win because it will
enable it to provide weekly plant reports and consolidated
invoicing to meet Birse standards. It can even provide information
split by operating region and cost coding for individual Birse
sites.
Kelly said: "This contract is indicative of the close rapport we
are building with our customers and it represents a win-win
situation for both A-Plant and its customers."
