Clugston has merged its various construction businesses and has
targeted £100m of activity by the end of this year. John
Burnett, previously director of Mowlem's building division, has
been brought in to head up the reshaped division.
Burnett's appointment as chief executive of construction leaves no
room for Stewart Tilley, the previous MD of Clugston's construction
division, who has left. Tilley had been in charge for six years,
having previously worked for Alfred McAlpine.
The enlarged Clugston Construction grouping will include St Vincent
Plant (the network of plant hire centres), Quine (a specialist
civil engineering contractor), and Clugston Facilities Management.
In addition, the specialist sewer renovation company Ferro Monk
Systems, acquired by Clugston last year, will also be part of the
new division.
Roy Butcher, Clugston Group chief executive said: "Burnett brings
considerable expertise in the Private Finance Initiative and Prime
Contracting. These are areas we wish to develop further, building
on the strength of our first PFI contract, the £18m extension
to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham."
Burnett described his new post as offering "a challenging role". He
added: "Customers are looking for a smaller number of suppliers who
can provide a more comprehensive service, including all the various
stages of a development and its aftercare."
