Roving reps not far off

The construction industry could see its first wave of roving safety reps hit its sites within the next two weeks, according to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).

Following the announcement that a team of consultants for the 18-month voluntary pilot project has been chosen (CJ 20 June), the HSE has confirmed that the scheme's exact details will follow soon.

"We need to chip away at the horrendous number of accident rates on site. These safety reps will act as an industry watchdog and an extra pair of eyes on site," said an HSE spokesman.
