Taylor Construction Plant (TCP) has redesigned its walk-behind
tracked dumper with a high-lift capacity, increased durability and
new engines. The Hi-T 500 has a 1.2m dump height and its four-ram
tip mechanism turns the 300litre capacity/500kg payload skip
completely over to discharge it.
At 700mm wide the Hi-T can pass through a narrow doorway without
removing the framework or stops and fully laden the rubber tracks
exert a ground pressure of only 0.32kg/cm2. To extend the track
life the pitch has been increased from 60mm to 72mm and all the
idlers and carriers are made of oil-impregnated plastic running
directly on the shafts.
There is a choice of four electric-start engines: diesels from
Kubota (7.1kW), Ruggerini (8kW) and Yanmar (6.4kW), and a Honda
8.1kW petrol. Hydrostatic drive gives a forward speed of 2.8mph or
1.2mph in reverse and a gradeability of 45û (while an optional
hydraulic PTO delivers 22litres/min at 120bar - suitable for a
medium-sized breaker.
The unit has a 2m turning circle using dead-man type control
levers. With an unladen weight of 435kg, a length of 1.65m and
height of 1.1m, the unit can easily fit in most vans. There is also
a lifting eye for loading by crane.
One local builder trying a prototype machine said it did away with
running a barrow up scaffolding boards to tip the load in a skip
and halved his time on site.
At around £6,200, TCP aims to sell 200 of the Hi-T 500s in the
first year.
