Duo in battle for gas pipeline work

The heat is on for two contractors vying for £26m-worth of gas
pipeline work in the south east.
Transco has pared the list of contenders down to Amec Spie and Murphy for the £17m Cambridge to Matching Green deal, which spans Cambridgeshire and Essex, and the £9m Willington to Steppingley scheme in Bedfordshire.
The client is expected to award the deals within the next 10 days for 42km and 24km of pipeline respectively.
On the back burner are bids from Alfred McAlpine, Laing, Entrepose and Nacap/Lawrence.
