by Glenda Thisdell
Support services specialist Amey and Nord Anglia Education, an
education outsourcing company, are set to run schools in one of
London's poorest performing boroughs.
A five-year £200m contract signed this week means the joint
venture will deliver services to the 92 schools within Waltham
Forest.
Amey will specialise in delivering £90m of core support
services such as budget and financial management, human resources
and IT. Other services in the package include: direct pupil
services like welfare and special needs; school development and
planning; and literacy and numeracy strategies.
The contract will be overseen by a Strategic Partnership Board
comprising the joint venture, the local education authority and the
Department for Education.
