Demag Mobile Cranes seeks partner to gain a stronger market position
Demag Mobile Cranes, the German manufacturer, has confirmed that it
is actively seeking a partner to act as a catalyst for its
departure from Siemens. This follows Siemens purchase in April of
Demag's parent company, Mannesman Atecs, and its subsequent desire
to divest itself of non-core businesses.
Bernhard Duser, director of sales and service at Demag, says the
move is inspired by market trends and is in preparation for the
anticipated consolidation of mobile crane manufacturers. "I would
forecast that in a few years' time there will only be three or four
major players," he said.
"We are doing good things in Europe and our market shares have
developed extremely well. A potential partner would have to be able
to help us carve out even stronger positions in other markets such
as the US," he added.
