Searchwell's ground probing radar system, the MPR50, is proving
itself a worthy investment in more ways than just improved health
and safety.
In one recent case it has potentially saved BAA many thousands of
pounds when it was used on a subsiding stretch of road in the
hangar area of Heathrow airport. Initially it was thought soil
erosion was the problem, but the MPR50 identified the cause as
damage by heavy road traffic, allowing accurate planning of time
and resources to solve the problem.
The MPR50 also confirmed the suspected existence of an air raid
shelter beneath a school playground prior to work being carried
out. While it revealed that the air raid shelter did exist, it
showed that there were no air voids, proving the structure had been
filled in.
Weighing just 12.5kg, the MPR50 consists of three sections:
antennae, front boom and rear section, making it extremely
portable. It can fit comfortably into the back of a saloon car and
is operational in less than two minutes using its own rechargeable
24v battery which eliminates the need for power cables.
