Groundforce is launching a sister company called Piletec with the
aim of being a one-stop-shop for the groundworks sector. The new
company will be a supplier of piling equipment (from several
European manufacturers) both for hire and sale.
Products will range from excavator-mounted and freely suspended
vibratory hammers, impact hammers, pile breakers and associated
hydraulic equipment and attachments used for piling. These will
allow the company to offer a full range of products from sheet
piles and pile driving equipment to hydraulic bracing struts (for
excavation support) and personal safety equipment.
"We have witnessed growing demand for rehiring of piling equipment
and the requirement for a single-source supply," said Groundforce
director Steve Turner. Bill Gorton has been appointed as general
manager of Piletec and comes with 30 years experience in the piling
industry.
It is expected that all of Groundforce's seven depots will also
become Piletec outlets within the next six months. Piletec will
also be able to take advantage of the qualified civil engineers on
Groundforce's staff.
Equipment for the new operation is being purchased at the moment
with around 100 units slated for delivery over the next few
weeks.
