Scots turbine plan unveiled
Scottish Power has unveiled plans to build the UK's biggest
windfarm - generating enough electricity to power 150,000 homes -
on moors 16km south of Glasgow.
The £150m, 140-turbine project could be advertised within the
next 18 months creating £12m of construction contracts. But
success depends on the outcome of consultations with local councils
South Lanarkshire, East Renfrewshire and East Ayrshire and planning
approval from the Scottish Executive.
Hurdles to be overcome include Glasgow Airport's use of air space
above the area for stacking.
