HA to announce MAC shortlists

Within the next four weeks, the Highways Agency will draw up shortlists for the first three managing agent contractor (MAC) road maintenance deals, totalling up to £665m.

Each of the revamped contracts will last for four years, with the possibility of three-year extensions.

Coming up for grabs are: Area 7 (£25m to £30m a year); Area 9 (£35m to £40m a year); and Area 11 (£20m to £25m a year).

The MAC deals combine for the first time managing agent and contractor roles, unlike the normal process, which keeps the two separate.
