Supply chain improves contractor relationships
by Ross Pearman
The Movement for Innovation (M4I) claims the relationship between
the supply chain and contractors has improved, with suppliers
putting forward demonstration projects.
"You won't see segregated groups at these meetings anymore," said
John Mead, M4I team leader for the London region. "It is an
integrated family."
A total of 12 demonstration projects have been submitted to M4I by
manufacturers and suppliers within the last year.
"This is hugely encouraging," said Mead. "There used to be a real
stigma within the industry that the supply chain had to go through
the route of the main contractor, but this isn't the case
anymore.
"To move forward, the supply chain must enter into demonstration
projects with no preconceived ideas. The current interest is great
news, but as always, there is not enough around," he said.
