The fourth of the pilot NHS LIFT PPP contracts has come out to tender covering work in the Salford, Manchester and Trafford areas.
The private finance Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) deal to upgrade, rebuild, maintain and manage primary health facilities in the Greater Manchester area is expected to provide around £49m worth of work in the first tranche. A further £40m is expected in the first five year period of the contract.
The project is being led by Salford Primary Care Trust, but also includes the primary care trusts of Central Manchester, North Manchester, South Manchester, Trafford North, Trafford South and the Greater Manchester Ambulance Service NHS Trust. Also involved in the partnership are Trafford Metropolitan Council, Manchester City Council and Partnerships for Health - the Department of Health and Partnerships UK joint venture company which is implementing the LIFT initiative.
Consortia interested in the scheme have until 15 July to register their interest. The other three pilot LIFT schemes out so far are: East London and City; Camden and Islington in London; and Barnsley. The remaining two yet to be advertised in the OJEC are the Sandwell Primary Care Trust scheme and the Newcastle Primary Care Trust project.
