£200m plan to revitalise Swansea's waterfront
Hundreds of construction jobs will be created by a £200m
scheme to revamp Swansea's waterfront.
Around 200 jobs will result from the first phase of the Welsh
Development Agency's (WDA) Port Tawe Innovation Village project.
Towards the end of the year, the WDA will invite developers to
express interest in parcels of land and to take the scheme forward
in phases.
The full-blown project, covering more than 40ha, will feature
around 200,000m2 of business space, 1,500 homes, leisure facilities
and the refurbishment of listed buildings.
Construction work kicks off in August with the initial stage - the
construction of two landmark bridges, plus infrastructure works.
