Turn-round for Dickie's profit
John Dickie, the Glasgow-based housebuilder and contractor, has
announced a pre-tax profit of £1.2m on turnover of
£31m.
Last year the group made a £1m loss on a similar turnover and
initiated major changes, taking on Rod Jones in as managing
director of construction and Craig McKillop as business development
director.
The turn-round has been dramatic, with finance director Morgan
Hogarth pointing to a rapid upturn in turnover in the current year
- by next March he predicts a housing turnover of £20m, and a
construction figure expected to jump from the current £19m to
over £33m.
"Last year we focused on bringing the new team in, so we just grew
our profitability," said Hogarth this week. "For 2003 we will
increase both turnover and profitability."
Construction awards range from £500,000 to £12m and
include an £11m project for the Department for International
Development in East Kilbride.
