Nuttall wins remediation job in Wales
Nuttall has clinched a £15m remediation scheme in South Wales,
paving the way for work to begin on a delayed £11m private
finance education project.
Nuttall's reclamation contract, for Bridgend County Borough
Council, centres on a former coal washery in Maesteg that will
become the site of a new comprehensive school. But first, old mine
workings will have to be dealt with in tasks that include ground
stabilisation and grouting.
Nuttall's parent company, HBG, is among three firms hoping to land
the contract to build the school.
The other contenders are Interserve and a Balfour Beatty/ Babcock
& Brown jv.
The council now expects to name its preferred bidder by the end of
this year - around 10 months later than the original deadline.
