Taywood set for £20m sports deal
Taylor Woodrow is emerging as preferred bidder for a £20m-plus
remediation package to kick off a £700m scheme for an
international sports village at Cardiff Bay.
It is understood that Nuttall is the city council's reserve bidder,
with a pitch from Mowlem totally out of the reckoning.
Insiders say the contract could be expanded to take in
infrastructure work as well, bumping up the deal's value by at
least a further £2m.
Subject to full planning consent, the remediation and revetment
deal will start early next year.
Plans for the village include a 10,000-seat arena, swimming pool,
1,000 apartments, hotels and a snow dome.
Three more firms originally priced the remediation scheme. But
Thyssen, Costain and Alfred McAlpine pulled out after deciding they
had to shoulder "too much risk".
