NFDC appoints first chief
The National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) has
appointed Christine Macfarlane as its first ever chief
executive.
Macfarlane has an academic background, including stints as director
of research and business development at Oxford Brookes University
and head of research and consultancy services at Brunel
University.
She will take up the post on 9 September, and according to NFDC
life president David Keane, is thought of as "very capable".
"I think it was her organisation and excellent administration
skills that impressed everybody," said Keane.
Macfarlane replaces John McGregor, who is retiring after 12 years
as the federation's national secretary.
McGregor has been associated with the demolition industry for some
21 years. He became national secretary of the NFDC in February
1990. "It is a mark of the way he has developed the role that the
title of the post has been changed to that of chief executive,"
said Keane.
