Ranger pickups get face-lift
Ford has given its Ranger pick-ups a face-lift including a
four-door Super Cab that has no B pillar, a redesigned front end
and enhanced steering, braking and suspension. The load bed is also
longer, payloads and towing capacity are higher and there is a new
two-tone paint scheme.
The rear doors in the Super Cab are hinged to the rear, allowing
unobstructed access for front and back-seat passengers and, with
the rear seats folded, for loading inside the cabin. To prevent any
inadvertent opening, the front doors must be opened first as they
overlap the rear doors.
The front end has energy-absorbing crash cans, a new bonnet,
grille, bumper and multi-reflector headlights that provide between
120% and 210% more light and coverage. Twin-piston front brake
callipers reduce the stopping distance at 96km/h by 25% on a laden
vehicle and 4x4 versions get ABS as standard.
Gross payloads are 1,120kg on the four-door Super Cab, 1,135kg with
the Double Cab and 1,180kg for the 4x4 Regular Cab. The towing
capacity of all 4x4 Ranger derivatives has increased by more than
27% to 2.8t.
