Provision of enhanced sports facilities at Ernest Bevin College,
Beechcroft Road, London SW17 7DF
Wandsworth Borough Council is inviting suitably qualified and
experienced architectural or surveying practices to express an
interest in being considered for inclusion on its tender list of
consultants for the provision of professional consultancy services
in respect of the above works. The scheme will consist of the
construction of new and the remodelling of existing accommodation
to provide a six court sports hall, an in-door swimming pool, a
judo dojo, a fitness suite, separate wet and dry changing
facilities and a reception area. There will be soft and hard
landscaping to the external areas including the provision of a
games court.
The development will have full disabled access throughout. The work
will be undertaken in and adjacent to the existing college
building, which will be used for teaching of students throughout
the contract.
It is anticipated that the cost of the building work will be in the
region of £5m.
Practices wishing to be considered for selection to tender should
submit their names to the Chief Executive and Director

All applicants MUST submit the following information with their
reply:
1 The full name of the practice or company wishing to be considered
to tender
2 Evidence of practice's background, CVs of management staff plus
those who will undertake the roles of designer and planning
supervisor in accordance with the requirements of the Construction
(Design and
Management) Regulations 1994. Evidence of membership of recognised
professional bodies.
3 Details of work of a similar nature carried out over the last
three years with the name of the client, description of projects
and services provided, values, contract periods and names and
addresses of at least three referees.
4 Copies of at least three years' audited
accounts
5 The name(s) and address(es) of the practice/company's
bankers
6 Policy statement on equal opportunities
7 Health and safety policy document
8 A statement on how the contract will be operated if
successful.
Failure to provide the requested information will automatically
lead to exclusion.
Practices must be able to attend at the site address within two
hours of notification. Consultancy services will involve scheme in
design, specification preparation, tender assessment, supervision
of the principal
contractor and certification of the final account.
The award of the contract will be based on the economically most
advantageous tender, according to the criteria contained within the
brief.
The successful consultant must have insurance cover under public
liability to a minimum of £5,000,000 for each and every claim
and professional indemnity and adjudication cover.
The number of successful consultants that will be invited to tender
will be five to six.
Successful tenderers will be invited to submit fee bids based on a
percentage of the works cost involved. The final date for the
despatch of invitations to tender will be 7 February 2003.
Terms and conditions of appointments may be inspected between 09.00
and 16.00 Monday to Friday at the Education Department Reception,
