Three of the construction industry's most influential figures have been appointed as trustees to the governing Council of the Foundation for the Built Environment (FBE).
They are Sir Michael Latham, chairman of the Construction Industry Training Board; Sir Neville Simms, chairman of Carillion; and Professor John Burland, Emeritus professor soil mechanics, Imperial College.
FBE chairman, Hugh Try said: "Their formidable knowledge of the built environment and depth of experience will be of great benefit to us".
Recently registered as a charity, FBE supports and funds educational and research projects in the built environment. It currently funds 15 full-time PhD studentships, awards MSc bursaries and has a diverse portfolio of research.
"It is most gratifying that all of the trustees are willing to give their time to guide the work of the Foundation in developing initiatives that will improve the built environment for the benefit of all", added Try.
