A tenth of the entrepreneurs listed in Enterprise magazine's annual top 100 are involved in the construction industry.
Duncan Davidson of Persimmon comes 27th in the league table; and London developer Stephen Conway makes 44th place, thanks to his 68% stake in housebuilder Galliard Holdings.
Duncan Fletcher, chairman of Scottish electrical contractor Forth Holdings, is 49th; and Ray O'Rourke comes 50th following his acquisition of Laing Construction.
Other construction entrepreneurs who feature include: David Wilson (Wilson Bowden) 53rd; Michael Masterson (Getjar) 55th; John Bloor (Bloor Holdings) 58th; Kevin Lagan (Lagan Holdings) and Tony Pidgley (Berkeley Group) 63rd equal; and John Nike (Nike Land Securities) 95th.
