Construction of Purpose Built Engineering Premises, Parkhouse Industrial Estate, Openshaw, Manchester, as Advanced Works in Connection with Metrolink Phase 3 - East Manchester and Ashton Line

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced contractors who wish to be considered for inclusion on the select list for the above project.
The scheme comprises provision of new purpose built premises for the relocation of an existing engineering business currently situated on the route of the proposed Metrolink Phase 3 East Manchester and Ashton extension. The works will provide a steel portal frame structure with a floor area of approximately 1000 sq. m. housing a workshop, specialist

heavy engineering testing equipment, gantry cranes, ground floor and mezzanine floor office space and associated M & E and external works.
The current estimated cost of the works is anticipated to be in the region of £700,000 plus the cost of specialist testing  equipment and gantry cranes.
The works are currently scheduled to commence on 7th April 2003.
The contract will be on the basis of a fixed price contract under the appropriate JCT Form of Contract, amended to incorporate GMPTE's requirements.
Applications must demonstrate their ability to undertake the above works in their expressions of interest, which must include details of contracts of a similar size and nature undertaken recently. In addition contractors applying must provide the following information with their submissions:-
(a) The names and addresses of three technical referees who are able to provide a reference of the applicant's competence in relation to this type of work. Details of particular projects undertaken by the applicant should form part of these references.
(b) A copy of the Company's latest audited accounts, which should not be more than 18 months old.
(c) The name and address of the Company's bankers.
(d) Confirmation that the Company is insured for Public Liability of at least £5,000,000.
(e) A copy of the Company's Construction Industry Tax Deduction Certificate.
(f) Evidence of having acted in the role of Principal Contractor under the 1994 CDM Regulations on similar schemes.
