WANDSWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS (PHASE 3) AT WINSTANLEY ESTATE, BATTERSEA, LONDON, SW11
Main building contractors, who are experienced in major demolition, refurbishment and environmental improvements and who wish to be considered to tender for the above works should submit their names to the Chief Executive and  Director of Administration, Room 110, The Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, London, SW18 2PU by 31st January 2003.
Contractors applying must be capable of executing controlled demolition within high density areas with due regard to existing drainage, services and managing major environmental improvements. Also the contractor must be able to demonstrate effective management of sub-contractors and have a proven record of achieving high standards of quality of work whilst undertaking works to occupied premises. The site is adjacent to Clapham Junction railway station (north side).

The works involve the removal of the existing garages at ground and part sub-ground level which are located to the south side of the Estate adjacent to Grant Road, the provision of parking bays that are safe, well lit and convenient to use, demolition works and the creation of new communal gardens, private gardens and new entrance porches.
The estimated value of this contract is anticipated to be in the region of £1.3 to £1.5 million and it is anticipated that tenders will be invited from selected contractors during February/March 2003 with a programmed start on site date of June/July 2003.
All applicants must provide the following with their reply:-
(a) The full name of the company wishing to tender;
(b) the names and addresses of three technical references, with details of particular projects, who are able to provide a reference of the applicants competence specifically in this type of work;
(c) a copy of the company's latest audited accounts which should not be more than 18 months old;
(d) the name and address of the company's banker;
(e) confirmation that the company are insured for Public Liability of at least £5,000,000;
(f) a copy of the company's Construction Industry Dedication Certificate;
(g) evidence of acting in the role of Principal Contractor under the 1994 CDM Regulations on similar schemes; and
(h) the name of the periodical in which this advert was seen.
In addition, if a contractor is shortlisted to tender, they will be required to submit a copy of their company's Policy Statement produced in accordance with Section 2(3) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
Applicants must refer only to the above-mentioned scheme in their reply.
Accompanying applications for other advertisements placed by Wandsworth Borough Council and late applications will not be considered.
