Builder rescued by fire brigade after fall
A building worker had to be rescued from a scaffolding platform
after he sustained a chest injury falling from a house roof he was
tiling in Nottinghamshire.
The unamed man is reported to have struck the end of a vertical
scaffolding member while working on the property in
Sandiacre.
The fire service was called to rescue the man. One fireman said:
"He was lucky, it could have been much worse. He tried to break his
fall by reaching out but ended up on top of one of the scaffolding
poles."
A Health & Safety Exective (HSE) spokesman said: "When we carry
out an investigation into such a matter we will look at the
circumstances. Questions we ask include whether people are properly
trained and if safety guards were in place."
