Laing and Skanska named preferred bidder for £140m roads PPP

Laing and Skanska have today (Friday) been named as preferred bidder by Vegdirektoratet, Norway's state roads agency, for a £140m PPP road scheme.

The Laing Investment consortium with Skanska BOT, will be expected to provide £6m each for the E39 stretch of road between Klett and Bardshaug, near Trondheim.

Work will involve a new grade separated route of over 27km including 10km of tunnels together with the operation of the road for 25 years.

The construction and operations partner in the consortium is Selmer Skanska, one of the largest contracting organisations in Norway.

Andy Friend, managing director of Laing Investments, said: "This win is pivotal for Laing Investments. This decision builds upon our strong existing partnership with Skanska in the region where we are both major investors in the Finnish shadow toll concession."
