Skanska UK set to recruit more staff
Skanska UK is expanding and is excluded from the Swedish
construction group's gloomy announcement last week that it was
making 500 job cuts and suffering over £100m-worth of
write-downs.
Under-performing businesses will be dropped.
A spokeswoman for Skanska UK said: "In the UK, there is pressure on
us to expand and we are actually recruiting, looking in particular
for people with building skills."
Skanska has recently snapped up two large PFI projects. The
Coventry hospital is the larger, with a £340m design and build
element followed by a 35-year facilities concession worth
£4.2m annually.
A second hospital is at Derby and is almost at financial close. It
will have a £250m build value.
"There are other projects in the pipeline where we are ready to
sign. Details will come to the surface soon," she said.
