Potential bidders eye £70m Hackney regeneration work
Countryside in Partnership is hoping to clock up a second big-value
urban regeneration deal for a north London council.
The firm, which won a £200m deal last year for Barnet Council,
is one of several eyeing up the £70m scheme for 750 new homes
in the London Borough of Hackney, involving the Haggerston West and
Kingsland estates.
It is expected that other specialists in the field will also join
the fray - firms such as Lovell Partnerships, Rok-owned Llewellyn,
Willmott Dixon and Mansell.
It is understood another likely candidate, Wates, will not be
focusing its attentions on the scheme.
Before contractors get involved, the council will appoint a housing
trust to take over the existing stock, subject to a tenants'
ballot.
The client is currently running the rule over bids from the Peabody
Trust, the London and Quadrant Housing Trust, and the Southern
Housing Group.
A preferred bidder is expected by the end of March.
