Kirklees Council picks five for £130m partnering deal
Kirklees Metropolitan Council has lined up five firms to carry out
housing upgrading work potentially worth £130m over four
years.
The West Yorkshire local authority's in-house team is included,
along with Connaught Property Services, Lovell Partnerships,
Enterprise and Keepmoat.
The partnering deal with the council will initially be worth
£62m, but it is hoped that the government will stump up a
further £80m for a grant to allow the scope of the scheme to
be expanded.
The project initially covers 18,000 of the total council stock of
more than 27,000 homes. Works involved in the project include
central heating, double glazing, general repairs and modernising
20-year-old kitchens. The aim is to bring all homes up to "decent
standards".
The deal is going forward under the banner of the Kirklees
Construction Partnership.
