German attachment manufacturer Stehr is looking for up to six
dealers to distribute its range of products, including soil
stabilisation and machine-mounted plate compaction units, in the
UK.
"We've already sold some machines into the UK and have dealers for
the London area and Northern Ireland, but are looking to establish
nationwide coverage," said Carsten Soltau, managing director of
Stehr.
Four of the company's towed soil stabilisation units are already in
the UK, and according to Soltau, these now offer performance
comparable to self-propelled models.
"We're quite happy to test both our model that grinds soil down to
24 inches (60cm) and our integrated, dust-free units against
medium-sized self-propelled machines," stated Soltau.
He said that one particular benefit of towed machines is that there
is no risk of the unit's own wheels re-compacting soil that has
already been ground-up.
Soltau added that its machine-mounted plate compactors had
significant benefits in terms of operator health and safety.
"In France the government pays a supplement to companies using
these rather than manual plates. This is due to the reduced
incidence of work related accidents and illness," he said.
