Peterhouse buys infrastructure surveyor

Peterhouse Group is continuing its mission to become a major infrastructure support services player with the acquisition of Newcastle-based civils surveyor and data collector Digital Surveys for £415,000.

Digital was founded in 1988 and provides survey and data collection services to the rail, water and built environment sectors. In the year to 31 March 2002 Digital posted a turnover of £328,000 and an operating profit of nearly £90,000.

The acquisition of Digital strengthens Peterhouse's existing land survey operations. The fate of Digital's management and staff is unknown.

Peterhouse sold its Propencity construction division, which comprises Totty, Jackson and Dean & Bowes, to a management buy-out team at the end of last year. A few months earlier it agreed a bid of £65m for rail maintenance contractor First Engineering.
