Two recruitment open days for a range of positions on the United Utilities £250m North Area Construction Framework Agreement attracted more than five times the amount of applicants required.
The HMB Alliance, a jv between Harbour & General, Morgan Est and Barhale, in conjunction with CarlBro and Mott MacDonald, is looking to take on around 20 people to start in March, to deliver the United Utilities AMP 3 Programme which includes clean and waste water treatment projects ranging in value from £500,000 to £25m throughout the Ribble Valley, North Lancashire and Cumbria region.
Carol Bold, human resources co-ordinator for the Alliance, said around 60 people turned up at the first open day on 18 Jan in Haydock, and a further 40 at the one on 1 February in Carlisle.
"We were very impressed with the calibre of the candidates; the vast majority were of a very high standard," said Bold.
"We need people across the whole range of jobs, including project managers, site and sub agents, general foreman, quantity surveyors, M&E project engineers and site engineers."
No further open days are planned, but Bold said there could be more towards the end of the year if the Alliance takes on more work.
