Hewden Power acquires Andover platform trailers

Hewden Power has taken delivery of three tilting platform trailers from Andover Trailers that ease the loading and unloading of heavy wheeled items like compressors and generators.

The units have an unusual design in that the trailer rubbing plate and kingpin are mounted on a hydraulically actuated pivoted subframe beneath the low profile neck.

When a heavy compressor has to be unloaded, the front of the trailer is elevated by the hydraulics (powered from the tractive unit) pushing the neck away from the subframe.

This is enough to start the generator rolling backwards - it is controlled by the winch mounted at the front of the trailer.

The trailer is also fitted with twist locks to allow up to three container-mounted generators to be transported.
