Gleeson wins £7m hospital contracts

Construction services group Gleeson has secured a deal to partner with social housing provider Frontis Homes on the development of key-worker accommodation for healthcare staff at hospitals in Yorkshire and Chester. The two projects being built are together worth £7m.

The schemes - at the Airedale Hospital in Keighley and the Countess of Chester hospital  - will provide housing for nursing staff, trainee doctors and their families in a mixture of terraced houses, apartments and study-bedrooms.

Work at Keighley, which is due to start in mid-2003, will involve the construction of nine mews houses, 11 family apartments and 108 study bedrooms arranged in clusters of four.

Construction of the Chester development is due to start later this month and will see five separate buildings - 142 study bedrooms arranged in two, three, and four bedroom clusters - in five separate buildings built.
