TAUNTON DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL
REFURBISHMENT OF KITCHENS IN COUNCIL OWNED DWELLINGS.
Taunton Deane Borough Council wishes to invite contractors who have
a
proven track record in refurbishing domestic kitchens in council
dwellings
to apply for inclusion on one or more tender lists for the
following
contracts:
Phase 1 ( ref 7/3/149 ) Taunton and Bishops Hull approx 100
dwellings
Phase 2 ( ref 7/3/150 Taunton approx 100 dwellings
Phase 3 ( ref 7/3/151) Wellington approx 80 dwellings
Applicants should note the following:-
1) Those selected for a shortlist will be expected to attend
interviews before final tender lists are produced for all three
contracts.
It is anticipated that contract documentation will be sent to
tenderers in
March, May and July, with a commencement on site in May, June and
August
respectively.
2) The work will entail discussion with tenants, agreement with
both
tenant and Council Officers as to what fittings are to be
installed
together with other related building work with the intention of
completely
upgrading kitchens. Kitchens will be specified on a performance
criterion
in order to satisfy the requirements set out in the Decent Homes
Standard.
3) It is anticipated that contractors will complete a minimum of
two
to three kitchens per week per contract. Properties will be
occupied
throughout the refurbishment period.
4) The Form of Contract used will be the JCT WCD 98, with
Sectional
Completions.
5) There may be opportunity to enter into a Partnering or
similar
arrangement between the Council and one or more contractors. There
may also
be the possibility of additional properties being added to the
above
contracts.
All applicants must supply the following information:
a) The full name and address of the company wishing to be
considered
to tender.
b) The names and full addresses of at least two referees with
details
of particular projects who can provide a reference of the
applicant's
technical competence specifically in this type of work undertaken
within
the last three years.
c) Audited and certified accounts for the last three
available
financial years of trading the latest to be no more than eighteen
months
old.
d) A statement of the company's annual turnover for the last three
years.
e) On a separate sheet of company headed paper authorisation that
the
Council can approach your bankers to provide a confidential
financial
reference.
f) Sufficient information regarding their ability and resources
to
show their capabilities in carrying out the duties of Principal
Contractor
with regard to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
1994
(including a copy of the company's current Health and Safety
policy).
g) A copy of the company's Environmental Policy if available.
h) Details of the company's membership of the Construction
Industry
Scheme.
i) Examples of Method Statements used for other similar
contracts.
