Norfolk Council invites tenders for £400m civils partnering deal


Norfolk County Council is seeking to partner with a consultancy and a contractor to manage and implement all its civil engineering work worth up to £400m over a 10 year period.

The council wants to set up a partnering arrangement based on the principles set out in the Rethinking Construction report. It is seeking to enter into a framework agreement with a consultant to handle the design, planning and management of is civil engineering works. The work is worth around £2m a year.

Norfolk will also set up a framework deal with a contractor for the planning, management and implementation of bridges and highways construction, improvements and maintenance works and some other services. The scope of work is estimated to be worth between £28m and £38m a year.

A minimum of six and a maximum of 18 contractors will be invited to tender for the work. Contractors have until 31 March 2003 to register their interest in the scheme with the county's department of planning and transportation in Norwich.
