Two men who were working on a hotel in Swindon had a narrow
escape yesterday (Tuesday) after a concrete stairwell gave
way.
The sub-contractors, who were working for the Midas Group, were at
the new Ramada Hotel site when the 80m-high stairwell collapsed at
approximately 9am.
The Health & Safety Executive has launched an investigation
after inspectors visited the site to survey the damage, but was
unable to confirm whether it would be taking any legal
action.
The 123-bedroom hotel, being built by Devon-based Midas, was sealed
off as the men were taken to the Great Western Hospital.
