RICS moves to improve South African ties

The signing of a historic agreement which will mean closer links between the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is now complete.

In a move that will further unite the international property profession, both bodies will work together to provide services to their members, to share information and research, and so enhance their contribution to the property industry in South Africa.

The move also reflects SAPOA's commitment to encourage the confidence of foreign direct investors in South Africa.

The agreement was signed at the international property conference MIPIM in Cannes, by RICS president Peter Fall.

RICS is also exploring the possibility of expanding membership in Africa and has announced the appointment of senior industry professional Mike Howard as its Africa consultant.
