SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL
SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL
TENDER FOR THE DESIGN AND BUILD OF TIMBER FRAMED EDUCATION
FACILITY
AT THE WOODMILL OUTDOOR ACTIVITY CENTRE
SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL invites applications from
firms/organisations with
experience in the design and build of timber framed
buildings.
The project will provide classroom, toilet, changing and shower
facilities
for outdoor activities on an environmentally sensitive site, which
has no
mains drainage and difficult foundation conditions.
The scheme will need to be designed and constructed with
sustainability as
a prime consideration, and to minimise the impact of the
development of the
site.
It is envisaged that the building will be framed and clad in
timber, from
sustainable sources, with good insulation, using "breathing"
construction,
on piled or raft foundations. It is proposed to incorporate solar
and
photovoltaic panels in the scheme.
It is our intention to issue the successful applicants with
tender
documents in mid April with a tender period of five weeks.
Firms interested in being considered for invitation to tender will
be
required to complete a
pre-qualification questionnaire available upon request in writing
