Five line up for £38m Wiltshire A419 scheme
Five contractors will pick up the tender paperwork later this month
for a road scheme in Wiltshire worth up to £38.5m.
Carillion and Costain will definitely feature in the line-up for
the Highways Agency's A419 Blunsdon bypass in Wiltshire.
It is understood that local contractor Hochtief, plus Alfred
McAlpine and Balfour Beatty, will also be in the running for the
early contractor involvement scheme.
The contract may also involve a £15m deal to improve
Commonhead junction. The HA has not yet decided whether or not to
include the scheme.
The Blunsdon bypass, valued at £23.5m, features 3.5km of
two-lane dual carriageway and two grade-separated junctions.
Design work on the contract is expected to start this summer.
A start on site for the Blunsdon scheme is due in 2006, with 2005
the start date for Commonhead.
